How to get out of a dead end?

About solution focused brief therapy:

  • Unlike traditional forms of therapy that take time to analyze problems, pathology and past life events, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) concentrates onfinding solutions in the present time and exploring one’s hope for the future to find quicker resolution of one’s problems.

In my role as your “pilot” I mainly use Brief Coaching and Solution-Focused Coaching that stimulates thinking about possible solutions rather than about problems and obstacles. My main objective is to, as soon as possible, lead you to the point where you don’t need my assistance at all. This can often happen during one to three sessions.

I don’t analyze the problem or the difficult past, I don’t do diagnostics. I only focus on the desired future.

My coaching is playful and “brave”’. My approach to method, choice of words and the person is authentic. I don’t just use this approach in my job, but also in my life.

I follow the slogan: The ideas you create by yourself are the ideas you remember the most in the future. Those concepts are the easiest to recall.

I am convinced that only through exploring and discovering “your own truths” you can become stable in life. Then it is possible to “lean on yourself” in a difficult time.

    stage at which you will be able to handle all critical situations alone and not need my assistance any more.

  • When I am looking at you, I don’t see “a problem”; I see “the solution to your problem”.
  • The best solutions are not the tailored ones, but those that are made by you. You are the expert on your own life.
  • I don’t analyse the problem or the past. I don’t do diagnostics. I focus on your desired future.
  • I accept and respect YOU (your vocabulary, your world, priorities and values, feelings)
  • I don’t want to “form you” or set the direction; I am only giving the impulse.
  • I listen and make you feel that you are important and unique in this world.

Positive and long-lasting change can occur in a relatively brief period of time by focusing on the solution-building process instead of focusing on the problems.

My therapy is grounded in the beliefs:

  • Clients have resources; my job is to help identify them and utilize them toward therapy goals
  • Change is constant and inevitable
  • There is no necessarily logical relationship between the problem and solution
  • Focusing on what is possible and changeable is more helpful than focusing on what is overwhelming and intractable
  • Small changes lead to bigger changes
  • Clients are the experts on their lives; therapists are experts on asking questions that help them reach the lives they want
  • Therapy is co-constructed

People are unique, so is their suffering and difficulties. Here are some examples of problems with which people often come to me:

  • Yes. I offer face-to-face consultations locally and via Skype/Zoom/Internet worldwide. Psychotherapy via the Internet works equally as well. This is really useful for people further afield or for people who cannot travel to appointments.

Art Therapy is a type of therapy in which artistic expression is used as a form of communication, that means, we do not express ourselves by speaking, but by creating.

The important thing is the process, not the final work, so it's not important to have previous knowledge of art.

This service is made by certified art therapist Raquel García Fas (here a brief CV) in English and Spanish.

More About Raquel García Fas:

Queli García has a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She has studied Social and Cultural Anthropology at UNED, and is certified in Art therapy for work with children and adults by the European Institute for Sensory Integration & Forum Media Group. She has held numerous painting exhibitions throughout Spain and is currently an Art teacher. She has collaborated with the Red Cross as an art therapist as well as other public and private entities.
